Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced AI Staff Engineer to join the Tools Team, leading the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade AI solutions for documentation websites and developer platforms. In this role, the individual will architect and build agentic systems, implement advanced retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, develop modern web applications, and drive AI-powered content optimization strategies (SEO, AEO, GEO) across the documentation ecosystem. This role serves as a technical leader, mentoring teams and shaping AI and web strategy. Key Responsibilities Architect and implement production-grade agentic solutions and agentic workflows that solve complex business problems end-to-end for authoring and documentation presentation sites. Develop and maintain AI Skills, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and AI Agents that extend LLM capabilities. Implement and own SEO, AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) strategies to maximize documentation discoverability across traditional search engines and AI-powered answer engines. Collaborate with multiple teams to build and enhance documentation platforms, developer portals, and content delivery systems. Design and build RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines integrating vector databases, embedding models, and large language models. Build and deploy scalable AI services on AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms) using serverless, containerized, and managed AI/ML services. Evaluate emerging AI tools, frameworks, and models; recommend adoption where appropriate. Develop backend services and APIs using C#, ASP.NET Web APIs, and Python. Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and documentation websites using Angular or React with responsive, accessible, and performant UI. Implement client-side scripting solutions using TypeScript/JavaScript for interactive documentation features, search experiences, and AI-powered widgets. Lead technical design reviews, establish coding standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers. Drive documentation site architecture decisions and author content in RST, Markdown, and DITA formats. Must-Have Qualifications 10+ years of professional software engineering experience. Hands-on experience building AI Agents, Skills, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations. Proven experience designing and deploying agentic solutions and agentic workflows (multi-step reasoning, tool use, orchestration frameworks). Strong working knowledge of RAG architectures — chunking strategies, embedding models, vector stores, and retrieval pipelines. Strong expertise in client-side scripting and web application development using Angular or React (component architecture, state management, routing, build tooling). Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern front-end development practices (responsive design, accessibility, performance optimization). Strong knowledge of SEO — technical SEO, structured data (Schema.org), meta optimization, site performance, crawlability, and content strategy for search rankings. Working knowledge of AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) — optimizing content for AI-powered answer engines, featured snippets, and conversational search interfaces. Working knowledge of GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) — structuring content and data to be surfaced accurately by generative AI models and AI-powered search platforms. Proficiency in C# and ASP.NET (Web API, MVC, .NET Core/.NET 8+). Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent AI/ML frameworks). Experience with AWS (or Azure/GCP) — services such as Lambda, ECS, Bedrock, SageMaker, S3, DynamoDB, CloudFormation/CDK. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience with documentation site frameworks — reStructuredText (RST), Markdown (MD), and DITA. Familiarity with docs-as-code workflows and static site generators.
