Company: Qualcomm India Private Limited Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Software Engineering General Summary: Senior Staff Engineer – Linux Software Product Engineer (Android) Compute Products We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to join our Compute Software team as a Linux Software Product Engineer (Android) This is a technical leadership and project lead role, with end‑to‑end ownership of the Application Processor Subsystem, including software health, stability, and release quality You will serve as the technical anchor for the product, working closely with Kernel, Multimedia, Modem, Program Management, Test, and Customer Engineering teams to ensure high‑quality software delivery from development through mass production What You’ll Do Lead end‑to‑end delivery of the Linux/Android software stack from early bring‑up to commercial launch Own software release readiness, define quality criteria, and approve customer‑ready builds Drive system‑level issue triage (stability, crashes, performance, power) and push issues to closure Identify software risks early and work with leadership to mitigate them Act as the primary technical interface across development, testing, customer, and program teams Drive key system KPIs such as boot time, memory footprint, performance, and power Support customer engagements from requirements to commercialization Mentor engineers and help define efficient integration and triage processes Be hands‑on when needed and actively guide teams to success What We’re Looking For Strong experience with the Linux software stack (drivers, frameworks, system integration) Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional, global engineering teams Hands‑on technical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience delivering end‑to‑end software products to production quality Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. • 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field Experience: 12+ years of Software Engineering experience, with a focus on Embedded Linux or Android Technical Skills: Strong understanding of the Embedded Linux software stack (Bootloader, Kernel, Userspace, Middleware) Proven experience in Software Integration and Release Management for complex SoCs Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages (Python, Bash) is desirable Experience with Source Control & Build Systems Ability to understand high level debug of complex system issues is very helpful Preferred Qualifications Education: Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Leadership Experience: Experience leading through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for a shipped consumer product Experience interfacing with external customers or handling customer escalations Applicants : Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
