Job Description
About Sarla Aviation: Sarla Aviation is at the forefront of revolutionizing urban air mobility with its advanced eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) aircraft featuring innovative tilt-rotor technology.
As a pioneer in the development of sustainable, efficient, and safe air transportation systems, Sarla Aviation is shaping the future of next-generation aviation.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Flight Controls Law Engineer (4–5 years’ experience) to join our expanding engineering team and contribute to the development and certification of our fly-by-wire eVTOL aircraft.
Job Description
As a Flight Controls Engineer at Sarla Aviation, you will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and verification of flight control laws for a safety-critical fly-by-wire eVTOL platform.
You will work closely with flight dynamics, avionics, software, systems, and flight test teams to ensure robust, certifiable, and high-performance control systems across the complete flight envelope—including VTOL, transition, and cruise phases.
This role requires strong technical depth in control theory, flight mechanics, and state estimation, along with hands-on experience in simulation, testing, and flight validation.

Design, develop, and validate flight control laws for a multi-mode eVTOL aircraft covering hover, transition, and fixed-wing flight regimes.
Develop linear and nonlinear aircraft dynamic models for control law synthesis, validation, and performance analysis.
Perform control law synthesis using classical and modern control techniques (PID, LQR, gain scheduling, robust control, etc.).
Design and implement control allocation strategies for over-actuated propulsion and control surface configurations.
Develop and tune state estimators (e.g., Kalman Filters, complementary filters) for attitude, velocity, and position estimation.
Conduct stability, robustness, and handling qualities analysis across the full operating envelope.
Develop high-fidelity simulation environments (MIL/SIL/HIL) for validation and regression testing.
Support ground testing, hardware-in-loop testing, and flight test campaigns including real-time tuning and troubleshooting.
Define control system requirements, verification plans, and validation strategies aligned with certification objectives.
Collaborate closely with avionics and embedded software teams to support control law implementation and code generation workflows.
Contribute to safety assessments including FHA, FMEA, and system-level functional hazard analysis for flight controls.
Participate in documentation and compliance activities supporting certification with regulatory authorities.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline. 4–5 years of relevant experience in flight control system design and validation for manned or unmanned aircraft.
Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for modelling, simulation, and control law development.
Solid understanding of flight mechanics, rigid-body dynamics, stability and control theory.
Experience in state estimation, guidance laws, and sensor fusion algorithms.
Hands-on experience in control law tuning, simulation validation, and flight test support.
Familiarity with model-based development and auto-code generation workflows.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
Qualifications
Experience with fly-by-wire systems and safety-critical software development practices.
Exposure to certification standards such as DO-178C, DO-331 (Model-Based Development), or ARP4754A.
Experience working on VTOL, tiltrotor, hybrid-electric, or distributed propulsion aircraft.
Knowledge of aeroelastic modelling and control-structure interaction considerations.
Familiarity with HIL/SIL test setups and real-time simulation platforms.
Experience working with engineering tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Understanding of DGCA, FAA, or EASA certification processes related to flight control systems.
Why Join Us? Contribute directly to the development of a next-generation, certifiable eVTOL aircraft.
Work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Take ownership of technically challenging problems spanning dynamics, control, and flight testing.
Be part of an organization that values technical rigor, innovation, and operational excellence.
