Company: Qualcomm India Private Limited Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Technical Standards Engineering General Summary: Qualcomm is seeking a 3GPP System Engineer with strong experience in wireless system design and standardisation , with a primary focus on system‑level architecture and Core Network design at Stage‑2 , focusing on 3GPP SA2 activities . The role involves defining end‑to‑end system architecture, developing technical solutions, and driving them through 3GPP standardization. Key Responsibilities Design 6G system features at the system and architecture level , with emphasis on Stage‑2 (SA2) specifications . Study and resolve architectural issues related to Core Network for 6G and IMS features and future system evolution. Develop and present technical contributions to 3GPP SA2 . Actively participate in 3GPP meetings, present proposals, build consensus , and defend technical positions. Proactively promote Qualcomm technologies within standards bodies. Collaborate closely with research, product, and implementation teams inside Qualcomm. Track ongoing and future 3GPP releases and align system architecture with Qualcomm product strategy. Required Skills & Experience Strong expertise in 3GPP system architecture , especially 5G Core Network and Service‑Based Architecture (SBA) . Solid understanding of Non‑Access Stratum (NAS) and IMS procedures and protocols . Proven experience in wireless system design . Prior participation in 3GPP working groups , preferably SA2 (other WG experience is a plus). Ability to work across companies and organizations to achieve consensus in standards. 5+ years of relevant Industry Experience Preferred Qualifications Experience working directly with mobile network operators , especially on core network architecture and services. Familiarity with multiple 3GPP releases and evolution from LTE to 6G. Willingness to travel frequently for standards meetings (often week‑long). Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. *Global travel several times per year for standards organization forums.
